Babies are Cute to be sure...but when they come out too soon it is darn scary for the parents. Little things make all of the difference to new parents taken out of their comfort zone and made to live in the Special Care Unit at the Hutt Hospital. The staff are wonderful but the reality is there is not enough money in the budget to pay for things that would make the parents stay with their babies less scary. Recently new chairs were donated to the unit so there would at least be safe comfortable places to sit for every mother...previously they needed to share chairs. Now they need help raising money to replace their aging breast pumps so that we can make sure that the babies are receiving the best medicine on earth...their own mothers milk. These pumps cost over $2,500.00 for a medical grade pump.
So a frustrated Lactation Consultant, and a mother who had experienced the Unit joined forces and decided to create a calendar to raise money for the littlies and their families. And so was born Pin up for Prems.
A collaboration of hair and make up artists, a multi award winning photographer, graphic designers, printers, clothing and costume designers, a project manager, pin up models, mothers and fathers, and American car enthusiasts. We are creating a Pin Up Calendar during the Hutt Valley's Americarna Festival to raise money for the Hutt Valley District Health Board's Special Care Infant Unit.
